Many marketplaces and shopping channels expect prices that already include tax (VAT/GST). If your CTX Feed feed is shipping prices without tax — or the tax-inclusive price comes out identical to the pre-tax price — this guide explains why and how to fix it. It is for store owners who need tax-inclusive prices in a feed for regions like the EU, UK, or Australia. The outcome: the right tax-inclusive amount in every product row, generated correctly even on an automatic schedule.
Use the “with Tax” price attributes
CTX Feed has dedicated attributes that compute the tax-inclusive amount for you. Use these instead of the plain price attributes when a channel wants tax included:
- Price With Tax — the current price (sale price if on sale, otherwise regular) including tax.
- Regular Price With Tax — the regular price including tax.
- Sale Price With Tax — the sale price including tax.
To map them:
- Open CTX Feed → Manage Feeds and edit your feed (or start one with Make Feed).
- On the Config tab, find the price row (for example Regular Price [price] or Sale Price [sale_price]).
- In its Value dropdown, choose Price With Tax, Regular Price With Tax, or Sale Price With Tax as appropriate.
- Click Save & generate.
If you map a plain price value (Regular Price, Price, Sale Price), the feed reports your WooCommerce price exactly as entered — without tax if you enter prices excluding tax. That is the most common reason “price with tax” looks like it is not working.
Turn on WooCommerce taxes first
The with-tax attributes calculate tax from your WooCommerce tax rates. If taxes are off, or no rate matches, the tax-inclusive price equals the pre-tax price. Confirm your store side:
- Go to WooCommerce → Settings → General and tick Enable taxes.
- Open the Tax tab and add at least one tax rate for the country your feed targets.
- Check Prices entered with tax — this tells WooCommerce whether your product prices already include tax. CTX Feed respects this setting when it computes the with-tax value.
CTX Feed never invents a tax the merchant has not configured: if there is no matching rate for the feed’s country, the price is emitted without tax by design.
The feed country supplies the tax location (no manual default needed)
On the storefront, WooCommerce picks a tax rate based on the shopper’s address. A feed has no single shopper, and during a scheduled (cron) run WooCommerce would otherwise resolve an empty location and drop the tax to zero. In older versions you had to work around this by setting a default customer location by hand in WooCommerce → Settings → General.
CTX Feed handles this automatically. Every feed targets exactly one country — the feed country you choose when you build the feed — and CTX Feed forces the tax location to that country for the duration of feed generation. So the tax-inclusive price is computed as a shopper in the destination country would see it, whether the feed runs from Regenerate or on a schedule. You do not need to set a default customer location manually.
Make sure the feed’s country matches the market you are pricing for, and that your WooCommerce tax rates include a rate for that country. Rates are matched by country only — a rate row limited to a state or postcode is not used, so a store with only state-specific rows gets no tax in the feed.
Choose which tax rates the feed writes
For feeds that output a separate tax column (rather than a tax-inclusive price), the Filters tab has a Tax rates scope:
- Feed country writes only the tax rate matching the feed’s country.
- All countries writes every configured rate.
Set this to match what the channel expects. For a simple tax-inclusive price, you do not need to change it — the with-tax price attributes already fold tax into the amount.
Troubleshooting
- With-tax price equals the pre-tax price. No tax rate matches the feed country, or taxes are disabled. Add a rate under WooCommerce → Settings → Tax for the feed’s country.
- Tax is missing only on scheduled runs. This is exactly the empty-location problem CTX Feed solves by using the feed country — confirm the feed has a country set, then regenerate.
- Wrong tax amount. Check Prices entered with tax in WooCommerce and confirm the rate percentage for the feed country is correct.
- I need both pre-tax and with-tax columns. Map the plain price attribute to one column and the matching With Tax attribute to another.
- Values still stale after changes. Click Save & generate (or Regenerate on the feed’s row in Manage Feeds) so the file is rebuilt with the new tax settings.
