How to Generate Multi Currency Product Feed Using Currency Switcher Plugin in WooCommerce
Jerrod Huxley is from the UK and was looking to buy some products you offer in your WooCommerce store. Finally, he landed on one of your product pages and added some products to the cart.
However, when he was about to checkout and completed the purchase, he started wondering what would be the actual cost of the products. This is because your WooCommerce store displays all the items in USD, and Jerrod will use a card in GBP.
So, he’s wondering what will be the conversion rate, and if he will be charged extra fees for conversion rates on his card statement. He’s thinking, if he’s going to be charged extra, then he’ll not buy from you.
This is true for most customers with a different local currency than USD.
In fact, 76% of consumers look for sites that price all products in their home currency before making an international purchase. And 19% of consumers in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom say they have abandoned an online purchase due to a lack of payment options.
Therefore, enabling your WooCommerce store to accept payments in multiple currencies is crucial for the growth of your business. It also makes your customer’s user experience in your store seamless and helps in international market expansions.
Now, listing your product prices in multiple currencies seems like a daunting task, right? Fortunately, as we all know, WooCommerce has a bountiful number of plugins for just about anything to make your life easier as a store owner.
The eCommerce giant didn’t fall behind in terms of supporting multicurrency switcher extensions either. In this article, we will talk about WooCommerce currency switcher and how to generate multi currency product feeds using CTX Feed Pugin.
Let’s start.
What is WooCommerce Currency Switcher?
A currency switcher is a tool that allows users to change the currency in which prices are displayed, and transactions are processed. These tools are commonly used in online stores or eCommerce platforms to enable customers from different countries to view prices and make purchases in their local currency.
Currency switchers work by using real-time exchange rates to convert the prices of products, taxes, and shipping costs into the selected currency. This makes it easier for customers to understand the prices of products and to make purchase decisions without needing to calculate exchange rates manually.
Currency switchers can be implemented in different ways, including as plugins for eCommerce platforms like WooCommerce or Shopify. Also, as standalone tools for websites or as built-in features of payment processors like PayPal or Stripe.
By default, WooCommerce only supports a single currency for each store. However, with a WooCommerce currency switcher plugin, you can offer your customers the ability to view and purchase products in various currencies.
This makes it easier for customers from different parts of the world to shop in the store. They can view prices in their local currency and avoid confusion or uncertainty about exchange rates.
When a customer selects a different currency using the currency switcher, the plugin automatically converts all product prices, taxes, and shipping costs into the new currency based on real-time exchange rates. This ensures that the customer sees an accurate price for the products they are interested in and can complete their purchase in their preferred currency.
Several plugins and extensions are available for WooCommerce stores that can enable you to display your product prices in multiple currencies. Even some plugins can automate this process by detecting the user’s location and displaying the appropriate currency without changing any settings manually.
Why should you use a currency switcher for your WooCommerce Store?
Using a WooCommerce multi-currency switcher can provide several benefits for both you as the store owner and your customers:
Reach a global audience
Using a WooCommerce currency switcher, you can reach a global audience and cater to customers from different countries and regions. This can be especially important if you sell products that have a broad appeal, as customers are more likely to purchase from a store that offers prices in their local currency.
By providing a currency switcher, you can eliminate any uncertainty that customers may have about the cost of your products and make it easier for them to make purchasing decisions. This can help you expand your customer base, increase sales, and grow your business.
Enhance user experience
The user experience is a crucial factor in determining whether customers will purchase from your store or not. Using a currency switcher can improve the user experience by making it more convenient and personalized.
When customers are able to view prices in their local currency, they can quickly understand the cost of products and compare them to similar products on other websites.
Customers are more likely to return to a store that provides a positive shopping experience. Therefore, using a WooCommerce currency switcher can lead to increased customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Additionally, by offering a currency switcher, you can show customers that you value their needs and preferences. As a result, this can help build a positive reputation for your brand.
Reduce cart abandonment
Cart abandonment is a common problem for eCommerce stores. Studies show up to 70% of online shopping carts are abandoned before a purchase is completed.
One of the reasons for cart abandonment is the inability to view or pay in the customer’s preferred currency.
By using a WooCommerce currency switcher, you can reduce the risk of cart abandonment and improve conversion rates. When customers are able to view prices and pay in their local currency, they are more likely to complete their purchase and avoid the frustration of having to calculate exchange rates manually.
This can help you increase your revenue and make your store more profitable.
Avoid currency conversion fees
Customers who purchase products in a foreign currency may incur additional fees from their bank or credit card company. These fees can be a major deterrent for customers, as they can significantly increase the cost of a purchase.
Using a WooCommerce currency switcher can help customers avoid these fees and make purchasing from your store more affordable.
By displaying prices in the customer’s local currency, customers can see exactly how much they will be charged without any additional fees. This can help you build trust and confidence with your customers, as they are more likely to trust a store that is transparent about the cost of its products.
Increase transparency:
Transparency is key to building trust with customers, and a currency switcher for WooCommerce can help you achieve this. When customers are able to view prices in multiple currencies, they can quickly understand the true cost of a product and compare it to similar products on other websites.
By providing this information, you can build trust and establish a positive reputation for your brand. Additionally, a currency switcher can help you avoid any confusion or misunderstandings that may arise from using multiple currencies.
Showing product prices in the customer’s preferred currency eliminates any misunderstandings about the price and the likelihood of a complaint or review.
This can help you build a loyal customer base and increase your sales over time.
Keep up with global markets
Global markets are constantly changing, and by using a currency switcher for your WooCommerce store, you can stay competitive and adjust prices in real-time to reflect changes in exchange rates. This can help you maintain your pricing strategy and avoid losing sales to competitors who may be more agile in their pricing strategies.
Additionally, by offering prices in multiple currencies, you can gain a competitive advantage in regions where your competitors may not be offering this option. By staying up-to-date with global markets, you can make informed pricing decisions and optimize your sales for maximum revenue and profit.
Make tax calculations easier
In some countries, taxes are calculated based on the local currency, which can make tax calculations more complicated. By using a currency switcher, you can ensure that taxes are accurately calculated in the customer’s preferred currency.
As a result, you can avoid any confusion or misunderstandings that may arise from using multiple currencies and make tax calculations more straightforward.
Additionally, by providing accurate tax calculations, you can build trust with your customers and avoid any negative reviews or complaints arising from inaccurate or confusing tax calculations. By simplifying tax calculations, you can improve the customer experience and increase customer satisfaction, leading to repeat business and positive reviews.
Customize currency display
With a currency switcher, you can customize how currencies are displayed on your website. This can include custom symbols, formatting, and decimal places, which can help you create a more personalized shopping experience for your customers.
Additionally, by customizing the display of currencies, you can create a cohesive look and feel for your store, which can help you build brand awareness and recognition. By providing a unique and customized shopping experience, you can stand out from your competitors and establish a strong brand identity.
Improve analytics and reporting
A currency switcher can provide valuable insights into your sales and customer behavior. By tracking currency conversions and sales in different currencies, you can gain a better understanding of which regions are driving the most revenue for your store.
This can help you make informed decisions about pricing, marketing, and expansion. Additionally, by tracking currency conversions, you can identify any discrepancies or errors in your pricing strategy.
This can help you optimize your pricing for maximum revenue and profit. Using data and analytics to inform your business decisions can create a more efficient and profitable store.
Offer a more inclusive shopping experience
By using a currency switcher, you can offer a more inclusive shopping experience for customers from around the world. When customers are able to view prices in their local currency, they feel more connected to your store and are more likely to make a purchase.
By doing so, you can gain access to a wider range of potential buyers and enter previously untapped markets. Additionally, offering prices in multiple currencies can help you cater to a diverse range of customers, including those who may not be comfortable using a foreign currency.
This can help you build a reputation as a customer-focused and inclusive brand, which can lead to repeat business and positive reviews.
By offering a more inclusive shopping experience, you can also tap into new markets and revenue streams. For example, if you are based in the United States and primarily sell to customers in the US, you may be missing out on potential customers in other regions.
By offering prices in multiple currencies, you can make it easier for customers from other regions to purchase from your store. This can help you expand your customer base and increase your sales.
Additionally, by catering to a diverse range of customers, you can build a more resilient business that is less vulnerable to economic downturns or changes in customer behavior.
Overall, a currency switcher can help you create a more efficient, transparent, and customer-focused WooCommerce store.
By offering prices in multiple currencies, you can improve the customer experience, and increase trust and transparency. Also, stay competitive in global markets, simplify tax calculations, customize currency display, and gain valuable insights into your sales and customer behavior.

Now, let’s discuss how you can create multi-currency product feed files using one of these plugins. Before we can talk about that, you need to know what a product feed is in the first place.
What is a WooCommerce product feed?
A product feed is a file that contains information about your WooCommerce products. It is similar to a product catalog and contains all your product attributes and product information, such as title, description, price, availability, etc.
You can use a WooCommerce product feed file to list and promote your Woo products on multiple platforms. For example, you can list your products in giant marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Target, etc.
You can also list your products on the price comparison engines such as Google Shopping, PriceSpy, PriceGrabber, etc. As a result, you can directly compete with your rivals and reach millions of potential customers through these channels.

How to create a multi-currency product feed using the currency switcher plugin
We have already learned about WooCommerce currency switcher plugins and showed how you could install and set them up for your WooCommerce store. Now we need to create a multi-currency product feed file that you can upload to a channel supporting currencies other than USD.
Different channels require a different set of attributes to correctly display your products on their website. It will be difficult for you to learn all the different necessary attributes from different channels and create feed files following their guidelines.
If you have, for example, let’s say, hundreds of products, then it will be very difficult to create, edit and update feed files for multiple channels. A product feed plugin such as the CTX Feed can save you from this hassle.
CTX Feed – WooCommerce product feed plugin
We can safely say with confidence that CTX Feed is the best WooCommerce product feed plugin out there. This freemium plugin can make your product feed file creation a breeze.
You can create product files for 130+ channels with little to no effort. The plugin already knows what attributes different channels require.
So, the developers have integrated all the necessary attributes inside channel templates. All you have to do is, select the channel template, and the plugin will do the rest.
CTX Feed will automatically populate all the necessary attributes immediately and collect all your WooCommerce product data. Once you click the generate button, the plugin will create the product feed file for that channel containing all your product data.
CTX Feed also has automatic update features. For any changes you make in your WooCommerce store, the plugin will automatically fetch those changes and update all your product feed files.
Thus you can display accurate information across all your channels. In addition, this advanced plugin supports all the popular multilingual and WooCommerce currency switcher plugins.
Price
The plugin has a very popular free version available in the WordPress repository. The paid version comes in different plans.
Yearly cost –
Single Site – $119.00
Five Site – $199.00
Ten Site – $229.00
In addition, you can purchase a lifetime license for the premium version. Contact the company directly to obtain a quote.
How to create a multi-currency product feed using CTX Feed
We will use the FOX – Currency Switcher Professional for the WooCommerce plugin and CTX Feed for this demonstration. In previous sections, we saw how to install and set up the WooCommerce currency switcher plugin.
We have set two currencies – USD and Euro. Now, let’s install CTX Feed.
Once you install and activate the plugin, click on Make Feed from the menu.
As you have installed a WooCommerce currency switcher, CTX Feed will display a currency-switching option in the feed generation window. You will find all the available currencies there.
Let’s say you want to list your products on the PriceSpy Finland comparison site. The Finland site displays product prices in Euro.
So, go ahead and select the PriceSpy template from the Template dropdown. And then, from the Currency dropdown, select Euro.
CTX Feed will populate all the attributes and collect all your product information according to those attributes. Click on Update and Generate Feed to generate your product feed.
You can find the product feed file on the Manage Feeds page.
If you click on View, you will see that the plugin has listed all your product prices in Euro.
